Based on common sense and good judgment, cyberethics also includes obeying laws that apply to online behavior. When you practice cyberethics, you are more likely to have a safer and enjoyable Internet experience.

It's like that old saying "common sense isn't so common". It's sad that they have to publish something like that, and even more sad that it can actually help many people.

Oh i definitely agree that it is useful and good information. I was just saying that it is sad that people have to be reminded to not cyberbully people.

It's like that old saying "common sense isn't so common".

It's like with the C.B radio, you get people acting like complete morons because they are hid behind something, and it's the same online, except they are sat behind a screen.

So true, FZ21Z. Too many allow the "anonymity" of the computer screen to overshadow not only common sense but also common courtesy.

On the other hand, I think/hope that the majority put aside the age, beauty, sex, race biases they may have in one-on-one interactions because they cannot see those aspects in a forum post. Instead, they see the thoughts behind the words, not the personal aspects of the person.

You would be surprised what people are capable of. I learned a lot when i used to play World of Warcraft, with 12 million people playing behind the shroud of anonymity a LOT can happen. I am male, but once decided to make a female character just because I liked the way they looked(they look nothing like a human or realistic in any way). I had people trying to flirt with me so much that I had to delete that character, people whispering me non stop. I even heard of some men making female characters in order to get people to give them items in game. Sad and sickening on many levels. The internet has definitely changed a lot from when I first started using it back in 1992, I had a text only slip account. So pretty much you used it for research or downloading documents/software. So it has gotten much better, while at the same time bringing out corruption in some.
