Pre-Installed Network Driver

Hey guys,

I'm new here. I bought my eMachines ET1331 desktop with pre-installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit a year ago. However, three months ago these lag-spikes started. I've been told by many that re-installing original network drivers can fix this problem. And, it makes sense, as these lag-spikes never occurred for just shy of a year. Is there a way to re-install a pre-installed driver without the CD? If not, is there a way to identify my pre-installed driver and download off the Internet? All posts count. Thanks.

My Computer

OS
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
go to this site:

eMachines Support - Downloads & Support Documents - Desktop / ET Series / ET1331

see the section at the top that says "Download Hardware Vendor Detection Utility"

this should tell you what NIC driver is installed (I believe it's part of the chipset driver package)

you could also type Device Manager in the start window--go to Device Manager--select 'Network Adapters' and right click>properties to see what driver and version you have--according to the eMachines website, your machine has a 10/100 network adapter

Thanks for the reply, tman69!

Excellent suggestion, however, the 10/100 Network adapter is for ethernet. I'm using wireless, though. It's a Realtek RTL8187B Wireless... is there a way to find out the pre-installed Network adapter for my wireless?
