With only 2GB of RAM, 32bit is the better solution. Did you check whether your new RAM Dimm is compatible with the mobo. You can have it checked here:

I think it worked just fine as before the hard drive decided to crash hard drive was an 80 gb hard drive I bought it with a low grade memory card already and the ground as it was outdated. I already put a driver updater I told you try to repair it and I see the updates on it but then hard drive to crash hard drive was the original from when it was actually XP Professional

I apologize for how it is everything said the hard drive was outdated the driver was kept saying there was so much out date on everything that was in that guess whatever the drive was I told you I don't have a very good when it comes to computers but I do that's why I'm asking to make sure I don't put something in my computer that's going to make it crash

While you are waiting for expert responses, you might want to take a look at some of the Tutorials in another section on this forum

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/

or there might be some threads of interest in a couple of the other sections of this forum: there are sections devoted to Hardware and Devices, to Drivers, and to General Discussion (links below)

http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/

As someone else who does not know a lot about computers, I have found these sections extremely helpful.

Are you planning to replace that disk. Is it a Sata disk ?

There is probably only that one disk. And Hitachi can be anything - Sata or IDE.

It means that if you buy a new disk, you have to know whether to get a Sata disk or an IDE disk. They are different.

no its the one that crashed on me it's only 80 gigabyte and it's older than the computer itself hard drive I think was the original when it was XP Professional I even bought a new driver updater disk drive everything and that's when it crashed so I guess that's what I figure out that it needed a new hard drive but when I get a new hard drive I have to read do the windows and I was wondering if that's why I want to know which Windows 7 I should use the 32bit or the 64 bit windows 7 home premium but on my laptop

Only with more than 4GB of RAM would you use a 64bit Windows. An 80GB disk is a bit small for Windows and the user files. I would get at least 320GB.
