Hello,

Today I was sick and tired of Firefox 3.6 because it kept having mini freezes every few minutes and reinstalling it didn't fix it so I decided to try Opera which I didn't like for missing out a couple of features I can't live without, removed that and tried Chrome which reminded me of the reason why I stopped using it a couple of years ago (lack of certain features I also can't live without).. ended up removing it and getting FF 5.0.1 which I didn't want to do because of the blurry font issue (which gets fixed by disabling HWA in firefox but I didn't wanna do that before) ..

Anyway after that I installed some windows updates that kept nagging me for weeks, I restarted and went on the web to customize the new FF ..

So all of the sudden, everytime I press any key on my keyboard, anywhere even on the desktop .. I get the prompt attached below.. (it keeps asking to open "url.dll")

Tried running CClean to fix registry, remove unwanted files etc, restarting explorer, restarting windows .. but nothing fixed it ..

Any ideas? its driving me crazy right now.....

Edit: I decided to swap the keyboard I had which was connected with a USB cable with a standard ps2 old keyboard I had and restarted, the problem didn't occur since then, I then reblugged the USB keyboard and tested it and the problem returned with it, I tried different USB ports but the result was the same, I guess it has to do with the keyboard then.. Hopefully it finally died after serving me for 3 years...

It sounds like the keyboard driver has gotten corrupted. Try uninstalling and reinstalling keyboard. Have you tried updating the driver and firmware for the usb keyboard in question? Next I would check system for any malware, spyware. Sometimes these bugs can get in and dork up peripherals such as keyboard, mice and printers.

Well the keyboard was just a generic Chinese 1, so it wasn't really a keyboard with drivers etc..

I have no malwares or viruses, at least according to MSE..

I will get a new USB keyboard later to try and see what happens just to make sure that it isn't something from the pc side..
