Wasn't sure where I should post this as I'm not sure where the issue lies. Whenever something is in "preview" mode or is windowed as opposed to full screen, it appears much warmer than it should. It happens with picasa, photoshop and any games that I play however my web browsers are not affected. I have an nvidia 8800gtx with a two samsung 906bw hooked up with vga cables (dvi to vga adapters used at the video card). It happens on either screen and I have the most up to date drivers from nVidia.
I tried the link and it only takes me to the Adobe Forums page, and not the OP he was talking about. Maybe you can make more sense out of it as I do not have PhotoShop, but you mentioned it in your OP.
I do have Picasa on my XP machine and I seem to recall that there was a setting for previews.
You may have to adjust one or the other or both to obtain the best previews. There may even be a conflict between the two and you will have to settle on one or the other.

Colorspace is a specific setting for photoshop but i know that isn't the issue. My monitors are calibrated using eyeone, also that wouldn't explain why my games look too warm while in windowed mode vs fullscreen.... this is really the thing that is annoying me the most. Thanks for the reply
After doing a search for eyeone and seeing how it is used for professional color management I can understand your dismay in it not working properly.
I am retired from the newspaper industry and I found it interesting that the X-Rite s/w can be used there for color reproduction.
There is one point that I am unsure of, are you working with just the X-Rite software or do you also have the X-Rite monitors?
I am also unsure if you are using any type of colorimeters.
After doing a search on troubleshooting display problems with eyeone (there seems to be a lot), and looking through some of the posts it seems that the s/w can be very particular in how it is installed, are you using any type of USB ports in conjunction with eyeone as in this post? Problems installing Eye One Display 2
Then there is also this if you are using any of these X-Rite products:
Nevermind, while calibrating the display got set up to have the "application control settings" but what I need to do is to calibrate nVidia settings that way everything is equal across the board. I guess when it was maximized it would use the applications settings but while windowed it would use another colorspace.
Since I have two monitors one will be left with the calibrated settings while the other one will left uncalibrated for games or anything else that won't be in full screen
It sounds like we have given you enough food for thought that you were able to reach a compromise with the system you have. I seem to recall someone mentioned colorspace earlier
If that is the way you need or want it. That is good, sounds like a good trade-off!
