Previously got BSOD, no longer happens however computer randomly slows

Basically, my problem is that randomly next to EVERYTHING will stop responding for about five minutes, except the lower profile applications such as teamspeak and mIRC, and its been happening since july. Then, it will work again for a bit and then it will happen again. I got windows 7 home premium 64 bit.

When it first started, it would freeze so bad that it would BSOD, but that has not happened recently, however sometimes even TS and mIRC won't respond, and you can't open any new programs up while its in this cycle plus 99% of the time explorer.exe stops responding as well. We think the problem started happening when we did the windows updates, we didn't do all of them but we did the majority of them at that time, but it may of just been a coincidence. It will happen basically no matter what i got open, if its just Fire Fox or if i got FireFox, WoW, Diablo 2, TS, mIRC all open.

I just recently upgraded to service pack 1, and the problem still occurs. I've ran CCleaner, malwarebyes, anti virus, and all came up with little to no malicious activity, I would really appreciate any insight on this problem,
Thanks

You have a problem associated with: Event ID 4107 or Event ID 11 is logged in the Application log in Windows and in Windows Server and this is likely the cause of your hangs. The solution is included in that link. The rest of my suggestions are for optimizing performance of software.

Additionally, you have sidebyside errors due to Visual C++ redistributables not being installed or not installed successfully. Install the following and their updates:

Also, uninstall Adobe AIR. If you need the program, re-install it after uninstalling it. It has issues with sidebyside errors that may be related to the above, and an uninstall and re-install after installing the above should fix those issues.

For future info, if you want to fix these types of issues yourself:

1. Click Start Menu
2. Click in the search programs and files dialog box
3. Type eventvwr and press enter
4. Search for errors
5. Any errors that occur within a short amount of time multiple times will cause hangs in the system
6. Also errors that say hang in them are likely to slow down the system, but if they are normal programs and do not happen often, they are not likely an issue (you had one with WOW and Iexplore, but I ignored these since they were not frequent issues).
7. Any errors due to programs with the string "svc" in them are possible causes of system slow down.

In your case, you fell in the 5. region with an error "A required certificate is not within its validity period when verifying against the current system clock or the timestamp in the signed file" so I searched Google with ["A required certificate is not within its validity period when verifying against the current system clock or the timestamp in the signed file" support.microsoft] (the support.microsoft at the end narrows down the search to find anything in Microsoft's support department related to the problem, and do not include the [] in your search as those were just for me to show what I searched for)

Thanks, i ran the fixit for it and it seems to be running alot better now. For your previous comment, i was wondering what AIR does before i uninstall it and then update the c++

Many on these forums say Adobe AIR is more like Adobe Error. I haven't had too many issues with it, but it is not a necessary component to either Adobe Reader or Flash Player, so I no longer install it on my system.

"Flash applications must specifically be built for the Adobe AIR runtime in order to utilize additional features provided, such as file system integration, native client extensions, native window/screen integration, taskbar/dock integration, and hardware integration with connected Accelerometer and GPS devices. AIR enables applications to work with data in multiple different ways, including local files, local SQLite databases for which AIR has inbuilt support, a database server via web services, or the encrypted local store included with AIR" (Adobe AIR | Adobe AIR 3 | Deploy applications).

Hello again,
It still hangs, i installed C++ and removed air, ran the fixit, and it still occurs. It's not as often, but it is still at a similar caliber when it does. Do i need to run another one of the reports for you to look at or will the one above help at all? Also, i only had firefox open when it happened, and the eventvwr had no errors in the last hour.
Thanks again and happy holidays.

When it hangs, does the system respond sluggishly, as in it takes a while for you clicking on a program for the program to actually start or even act like you clicked on it? What exactly are the symptoms?

You could monitor your processes and see which are using a lot of CPU. To view processes, right click on the up arrows in the lower left of the taskbar and select Start Task Manager. Click Show Processes From All Users. Monitor processes when things hang.

Also, you could try finding the culprit by troubleshooting application conflicts by performing a clean startup.

When it starts everything currently open will stop responding, if i try opening a folder it will pop up and the bar on top loading bar will move very slowly, and if i try to open a new program, sometimes something as little as notepad, it will not open until it the slowdown period finishes, and then everything will act like normal, until it hangs again. In the documents above did it state anything about firefox being a culprit? I'm just wondering as i heard its a resource hog.

I have opened a task manager and watched the cpu as it went through the cycle, and the cpu usage did not greatly fluctuate, if it did at all.

Typically behavior like that is due to a service running, and it will usually show up in eventiewer as an application error. If it didn't, the best method to find out which service is slowing things down is to run through the clean startup and add each service one at a time to the startup items to determine which causes issues. My antivirus causes issues like this occasionally, but it shows up as an error in eventviewer with an application fault due to the "svc" string filename. I know Bonjour is a known service in iTunes that can cause slowdowns, as well.

This is the only error that has occured multiple times (7 times)in the last 24 hours:
Activation context generation failed for "C:\Windows\Installer\{67E03279-F703-408F-B4BF-46B5FC8D70CD}\WksWP.exe". Dependent Assembly msadctls,processorArchitecture="x86",type="win32",version="1.0.1801.0" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.

What programs actively use bonjour? I have it installed, and i have itunes installed but i never use itunes, is there any other programs that would conflict if i disabled it?

Bonjour probably is not causing issues as it would show up as application errors saying it is trying to run a schedule multiple times within a few seconds. If you are concerned with it, however, it is better to set it to manual rather than disable it. To set it to manual:
1. Click Start Menu
2. Type Services into the Search programs and files dialog box (do not hit enter)
3. Right click Services (with the gear icon) and click Run as administrator
4. Scroll down to Bounjour Services
5. Right click Bonjour Services and click Properties
6. Change Startup Type: Manual (startup type can be found in the middle of the page)
7. Click OK.
8. Restart the computer if prompted.

As to your application error that is occuring often, that appears to be an issue with the Visual C++ Redistributables. Install all of the following and their updates:

With the C++ do i need to install them all or only the ones for x86 ones? If it's only the x86 i've installed them all, i'm only asking because i read that somethings won;t install if its not the proper version.
I could just read the pages you linked :)

"msadctls,processorArchitecture="x86",type="win32",version="1.0.1801.0" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis." Points to x86 versions not being installed. However, you should install both packages if you have a 64-bit machine so both x86 and x64 installers can use the redistributables appropriate for whether the installation software needs the x86 or x64 installer. You'll note that you have a Program Files folder in C:; these are the x64 programs. You also have an x86 version of Program Files where x86 software is installed; most programs are x86, as you will notice if you check the sizes of the two folders.

I have had nine errors in the last hour, after i rebooted my system. Five of them came from the SharedAccess_NAT, is this something i should look into?

Also, could this problem originate from an expired anti virus? (trend micro antivirus) Now that i think of it, it expired around the time the problem started.

Are you running an anti-virus without uninstalling trend micro? If so, definitely remove the old one. If you are not, uninstall the old one and install Microsoft Security Essentials and run with Windows Firewall.

To remove trend micro, Uninstalling Trend Micro program using the Diagnostic Toolkit and uninstall the software and trend micro firewall with that tool. Install Microsoft Security Essentials if you do not currently have an antivirus.
