Hi, I have a question. When formatting my HD with Diskpart and I'm setting up the partitions do I need to list them all as primary or do I list the OS one as primary? If I list only the OS one as primary what do I need to list the others as?

Hello n10669, welcome to Seven Forums!

Windows needs to be on a Primary so it is bootable as the Windows "System" boot files can't be hosted on an Extended partition; though there is another storage option presented in Method One of this tutorial linked below and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

Depends upon your objectives.

This is Win 7 and not XP.

You don't need all of those small parititons which you had in XP which are counter-productive in a Win 7 environment.

In other words, create Primary partitions and only primary partitions.

My jumping jehosophat, you get four of them. What more does a man need with a modern os like win 7?

Of course, there are those old and young buzzards who never grew with the modern world who will disagree with me. In case you wonder, I'm an old buzzard who ate the entrails of the dead and deceased early Dos versions. (My breath has not improved.)
