I thought this was a vista thing but seems to have followed me to 7. I have a Lexmark x1250 and when a job is printed it won't delete the job so will not print the next one.

With Vista i used to have to stop/start the spooler, sometimes reboot. Is 7 the same?

The first suggestion is to make sure you have the latest print driver installed. If this doesn't work, and another solution doesn't present itself, you can use this utility to kill print jobs in the queue...

I think the problem is that the print job is sitting in the printers buffer at that time. So even deleting it from the print queue will not help because the printer is printing on it's own.

Thanks everyone. I have tried all the ideas except that freeware programme and I will try that. One link has the following script that i have used on the vista but it does not always work

net stop spooler
del /f C:Windows\System32\spool\printers\*.*
net start spooler

On a 64 bit system why is it system32? I do not see it in any C:Windows\System32\spool\printers\

is this a printer problem or a windows problem. The net is full of problems like mine and people say it is a MS problem

I have exactly the same problem with a Color LaserJet CP1215. I am able to purge the print queue with the batch file but the next job just hangs. I
