I think we pretty much tried all the usual culprits. If you like, you could do a repair install that should fix it without losing anything.

in the meantime, to help the wife and keep peace and sanity, you could, if you have ms office word or similar,
create a word doc and put the two images in there then print the doc.

Message to Brink & all concerned with the help I had.
Well Brink I took up you idea of a repair,I went on youtube and found a tutorial about making a repair to windows 7,I had it running on my laptop next to the desktop and went for it started last night (Friday) at about 1800hrs and finished at abot 2200hrs all went well but today ( Saturday) took long than the repair with all the windows downloads etc.

On the tutorial it said to uninstall SP1,So followed every method as the tutorial,had a slight hitch with the printer drivers but that was okay that was a simple thing.
Well now Saturday 1900hrs all up and running like a Volvo not quite like a Rolls.

Well I wish to thank you all for the help you passed on to me over this problem,We might meet again.

Brink.Sorry to get back to you,Don't panic everything is okay.
As a matter of interest what is the difference between what I did (Windows Repair) and a complete re install of windows?,Also can this repair method work on a laptop?

Hello Trendy,

A clean install will remove all your user accounts, settings and all installed programs and customizations. It will completely reinstall Windows from the disc (although the files removed will still be accessible in the windows.old folder).
A repair install however will only reinstall the corrupted files, but it won't rebuild the computer's registry and it will leave user accounts, installed programs and customizations alone, so that you don't need to install everything afterwards.

And yes, a repair install should work on a laptop(in fact, I did it myself a few days ago).
