Print queue stuck 4/1 pages, new install.

HP All-in-one L7590 print device, connected by USB, prints quarter of a page then gets stuck and prints a dozen pages of symbols. The document is then stuck in the print queue, saying 4/1 pages, until the print spooler is stopped and restarted. Tried reinstalling the print driver, both 2006 and 2011. Any ideas?
