Print Screen not Capturing

okay I was playing a game and i decided to capture a screen shot so i pressed the "prt sc" button. when i exited the game and went to MS Paint to paste it, i only get a black blank screen. i went to photoshop and it's still the same. i tried taking a screenshot of my desktop but it's working. why is it like this?

don't tell me to use snipping tool because i know that program, and i can't run it when i'm playing my game.

One of our members likes a Program called FastStone. Now sure how well it works with games.
