I have installed a hp laserjet p1006, with windows 7 x64 drivers. Printer shows installed, says working, but when attempting to print, all it shows is that document is spooling, then nothing happens. Checked windows system 32 printer file, nothing there. Does anyone have any suggestions. I have deleted and installed several times, and still get the same response. Thanks for any help.

A print spooler is software that temporarily stores print jobs on the computer hard disk or in memory until the printer is ready to print them.

If you've been waiting an unusually long time for a document to print, or if you see an error message about the print spooler, you might need to restart the print spooler on your computer.

The simplest way to restart the spooler is to save your work and restart the computer. You can also try these steps:

You must be logged on as an administrator to restart the spool.
  1. Open Administrative Tools by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type administrative tools, and then click Administrative Tools.
  2. Double-click Services. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  3. Right-click the Print Spooler service, and then click Properties.
  4. On the General tab, next to Startup type, make sure that Automatic is selected.
  5. If the service is not already running, under Service status, click Start, and then click OK. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Hope this helps!

For an HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless printer used on a Windows7 64 bit system, you have to download all the software and drivers for the W7 64 bit system from the HP website.

This will not necessarily solve the problem, because Miscosoft is having a problem with the Print Spoolers turning off by themselves.

You need to go to the START button, type in "services" , then look for the "local services" file, then find "spooler" and look on the left side and hit the "start" or restart button (this will restart the spooler), wait a few seconds and then try and print something.

It will work, yet you will probably have to do it over and over again each time you restart your computer since microsoft and HP have not gotten a patch ready yet.

Good Luck.
