printer driver installation

tried to install driver for samsung laser printer 331 ond on desktop w/win 7 home premium
message says cannot locate printer & in devices & printer its shown in unspecified
checked printer by installing on laptop w/ xp worked fine

Please provide your full system specs.

Did you purchase it WITH the Samsung driver cd?
Did you buy it new, used, or refurbished?
Is your USB cable (for the pc to printer connection) less than 10 feet, AND known to be good?

Most USB printers are a snap to install.
Connect and turn on; then W7 detects it and installs the drivers.
If that's problematic, then install using Samsung's drivers.

In either case, detection has to happen.

If you have a thumb drive, you can plug it in to each USB port to see if they are all working.

the printer is brand new with samsung cd usb cable 3ft is good as used to install on
xp laptop w7 does not detect printer & neither does the installation cd

Is a thumb drive detected on all ports you plug into?
