Hello everyone. Newbie here with a perplexing problem I'm hoping someone here can help me with. Over the holidays I purchased a Gateway NV55C laptop computer running Windows 7 Home Premium, Pentium 4, 64 bit. My printer is a Kodak 3200 Series 3-in-one. No matter what I do I can not get the printer drivers to install on the laptop. I have tried the driver installation disc that came with the printer. I have tried downloading the driver from the Kodak website. I have tried updating the drivers from Kodak and by using Windows Updater. I have checked all the USB ports on the laptop and they are working fine. Nothing has worked. The software for the printer installs without a problem but the laptop can not detect the drivers. I am stumped. The printer is currently installed on my 10 year old Gateway desktop running Windows XP and it works without a hitch. According to the Kodak website this printer should be compatible with Windows 7. Due to the advanced age of the desktop ( which works great BTW :) ) I really would like to get the printer to work with the laptop just in case the desktop should decide to give up and die. I have tried getting support from Gateway. Forget that! I have not heard back from Kodak. Perhaps a computer guru from here might be able to point me in the right direction. Any help you good folks could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Madness and welcome to Seven Forums.

You say your Gateway is running Windows 7 64-bit. Are the drivers for the printer also 64-bit or are they 32-bit? If 32-bit that could be an issue. If the drivers are 64-bit you could try using Compatibility Mode in this tutorial and see if that helps:

Thanks for your replies. According to the Extended Users Guide, this printer is compatable with 32 or 64 bit processors and will work with Windows XP and Vista. The Kodak website says that the same printer will also work with Windows 7. I have used the 'add a printer' proceedure listed in the Divices and Printers. I have followed the directions provided and have had no luck. Is there another proceedure I could use or am I doing something wrong?

I used the procedure where you install the cd/downloaded drivers first, then only plug the printer in and turn it on when prompted. Hope this helps a bit pal .... let us know how you get on ;)

I think I tried this method without any luck, but I'm willing to try it again. I'll let you all know how things turn out.

According to Kodak, the installation procedure for their drivers is as follows:

  1. Verify that your computer meets the system requirements.
    note.gif
NOTE: WINDOWS XP 64-bit Operating System is not supported.
  2. Disconnect your all-in-one printer from your computer.
  3. Verify that you logged on to the computer using the administrator account.
  4. Close all programs.
  5. Download the software onto your computer.
  6. Double-click the *.exe file, then follow the on-screen instructions.
  7. When the installation is complete, connect your all-in-one printer to your computer.
  8. Select Start > Programs > Kodak > Kodak AiO Home Center.

Good news. After many, many failed attempts at getting my printer drivers to install I finally got them downloaded onto my laptop. :D My third try at getting them to download from the Kodak website was a success. I don't know what I did differently but it worked. I will say it took an extremely long time for the drivers to install, (almost an hour and a half to be exact), but the printer and the laptop are both running smoothly. Many thanks to all of you who offered suggestions to my problem. I'm glad to have found this website and plan to visit it offen. Thanks again.
