I am running a Konica Minolta C650/C/550 printer in our business. I print tons and tons of pages daily... but I cant for the life of me figure out how to switch it to black and white. I watched a couple videos and made a couple calls (including one to Windows themselves...) and can't get it figured out. Everything continues to come out in color, and the videos I have watched have tabs that are completely different that mine. Whenever I get into the advanced settings in which I am supposed to be I see a page that is more of a list including: Offset, Output tray, Binding position... Screen (Text), Color Matching (Photo), etc. And they have drop down options in them. I have set everything I could figure to over to the black or black and white settings and am still having no luck whatsoever. Everything we ship out is in black and white, so after I print them I have to re-run them through the copier to get them as such. Does anyone have any advice? This has been plaguing me for like three weeks now and would like to get it figured out. Thank you, and please help if possible!

Do you have a draft setting on your printer when you get to the quality stage before printing?

I am sorry, but please define draft setting... I am not quite as computer literate as I used to be in high school. That was a few years ago haha.

Do you have the correct Windows 7 drivers? I see drivers for Win 7, Vista, XP, 2008, etc on their downloads page HERE

It should be in the printing preferences...

Under the "basic" tab, you should see a drop down box that lists "favorite" settings... You might see a black and white 'default' setting there....

If not, you can create another printer 'setting' for black and white.

We are starting to figure that would be the case. Because when I go into the settings I see a "features" box in the corner. And it has "Color: Yes" marked, but does not give me the option to change it anywhere...

In printing preferences I see "Layout" and "Paper/Quality" and that's all. There is the advanced button in the bottom right corner but when I click on it it brings up the forementioned list.

That almost sounds like you don't have the permissions to "manage" the printer. What year is this printer?
The new drivers have quite a bit more options that those you listed.

If you get ready to print something you choices of viewing print/then to go properties and select the quality of print you want.
Draft printing is black and white.
I use that for printing less quality documents to save on ink or I want to see a photo printed in black and white if I need to make corrections. Just an old habit I've acquired over my years of printing.

I think we have come to the conclusion that it is a missing driver. So we are searching around trying to find the one to install so we can switch back and forth. Thank you very much for all of the information and help!
