I have Canon Pixma ip 4200 printer with USB connection to main pc running Windows XP professional. Have just set up second wireless pc running Windows 7 through D Link router. Have, after many hours, managed to get this printer installed on Windows 7 pc. Problem seems to be an issue with connectivity between the two pcs. I can see the printer in the Network and Sharing (Win 7) along with all the files I wish to share. I have also been able to ping the two pcs. When I try to print from Win 7 the printer shows 'collecting printer status' and does not print. No printing issues with the other pc.

Have been trying to resolve this for hours and tearing my hair out. Can anyone help before I go bald?

Thanks

Hi Guys

Just realised I can view the shared files from the pc running Windows XP so I guess this must be an issue with the printer driver installation and not a connectivity issue. Still need help though. New user to Win 7.

Many thanks for the advice chev65. Had tried that earlier in the day without success (think I was getting really tired with it all) but after your reply decided to try again and, by changing the printer name on both pcs, managed to get the problem resolved.

Determined not to go back to using Windows XP so may be on this forum again in the next few weeks......... and hopefully my hair will grow back again!

Again thanks for the quick response.

Determination pays off sometimes. I've been waiting for a printer made just for Windows 7 because getting older hardware to work can be a pain when ever moving to a new Op sytem. Nice job on getting that working. ;)
