I have an issue with my printer!!! it does this both on XP and Windows 7... if I print plain text, it is just fine... but if I print a picture all black parts of the picture are printed out as silver color instead!!! it has done this since I installed a new Black ink cartridge in my HP PSC 1210xi printer!!! I cannot figure out why it is doing this nor am I able to fix it!!! my ink status window on my computer says both color and black cartridges are ok!!!

Two things come to mind. Cartage install incorrectly or the wrong cartage. Is it a HP cartage? Open up your printer program and their should be test print, clean ect you can do.

it is a remanufactured cartridge... I bought two of them exactly alike... when the one ran out, I put the other in... this other one is having the problem...

I think you just found the problem. I know it hurts because of the price but try a H.P one and see if it does the job. Don't forget the H.P. printer program has some cleaning and aligning things built into it. Some of the cheaper carriages have a less quality ink and scum things up.

tend to agree that its the cartridge. i have use generic or re-manufactured cartridges in the past and have found them to be nothing but trouble. i found that the generics typically use twice as much ink because of the constant cleaning cycles required to keep it flowing well, thus not saving anything in the end..
