printing problems from computer to printer

I have a Windows 7 Desk top computer conected wirelessly to H P photosmart printer. The printer is working ok. Computer regularly refused to print. Can any body tell me what might be wrong and how to fix it. I am not very technically minded. regards Jan

We're going to need a lot more detail in order to solve your issue. How are the computers connected (do they both connect ot the same router)? Do you get an error message? Does the print job make it to a print queue? Does it send the job to the printer...and the printer throws up an error message? If the printer is okay, how do you know....from making copies and printing directly from the printer?

Hi The printing job reaches the print queue but nothing happens. The printer and the computer are connected to the same wireless router. The printer has no error messages. I can use the printer it'self. I have been able to get the computer to send printing to computer successfully but I had to turn the router off and on again but this happens quite regularly. Is there any way I can stop this happening. Thanks for replying to my post.

It sounds like the printer grabbed one IP address and the print drivers are set to use another in the settings. I would go into the settings of the print driver (Printers and Devices) and find what IP address it is using. You can check under ports, and it will be something like IP_192.168.1.5. Then, on the printer itself, set the IP address from automatic to manual, and type in the same address. Your printer manual should explain exactly how to do that.

Anytime I set up network printers, I use static (not changing) IP addresses.
