With Windows XP there was an "image writer" option in the print file. Is there any type of image writer drivers that anyone recommends? I have found a "free" download from www.windows7downloads.com, but am not sure if that is a reliable source.

Thanks in advance

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. There's the Microsoft XPS Document Writer that comes with Windows. It's been around since XP. It's still in Windows 7. You print to it just like a printer and it creates an image. If you're looking for something that will allow you to print images or photos, I suggest IrfanView. I've used it since it first came out. They're a bit slow on a Windows 7 release but the Beta has been working for me.

Your link didn't work for me. All I get is a title banner and a blank page. Evidently, the site is trying to perform stuff that's getting trapped so I wouldn't trust it. YMMV

I am trying to create an advertisement in Publisher or Word that I can print to a jpeg and paste in an e-mail so that my prospective clients don't have to open an attachment to see my advertisement. In my old computer I could print to "image writer", I think it was called. From the research I've been doing you can directly paste a picture onto an e-mail, but I'm not having much luck pasting a document, or "print screen".

I would definitely use a print to PDF software, then convert it to a Jpeg. I use nitroPDF myself.
