Prob with BattleField Bad Company 2

hi all ,
i have a prob here and i wanna know watz the prob ......
whenever i turn the griphics to high in Bad Company 2 the game gets slow ...... i think this is a prob with the video card but the game only needs a 512 card as recommended but i have 1GB with pixel shader/vertex shader 4 so watz the prob
... also i attached a pic fron CYRI sayin that my video card doesnt pass but all the subs in vid card area pass why?????

A video card's performance goes much deeper than just the amount of VRAM it has.

And in the case of your Radeon HD 4550 (a low end card), it makes perfect sense for the card to struggle under mid/high settings in BFBC2.

If I were you, I'd be looking to upgrade ASAP.

Yep - it's not a strong card and high settings will tax it severely resulting in degraded performance.

T acheive a sembalance of smooth gameplay, you will have to lower quite a few settings.

Try medium settings (AA and HBAO off) and tweak from there. You may even have to settle for low on a few settings.

It says recommended 4870+ and your running a 4550.

The general attributes match .... but the actual processing power does not. thats why its failing the GPU test.

At least for high settings.


As suggested just try lower settings.

when i bought this thing i jst looked at the vram so plz tell me if i buy a new one watz the most important things to know about the v.card im buyin (the things making the prob and if there was othr thngz)

Your problem is twofold: your video card isn't very strong and you only have a dual core cpu. Most of the time your cpu wouldn't be a problem, but with BC2 it is.

Have a look at this chart to see what video cards are doing at your resolution of 1680x1050: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 GPU Performance In-depth > 1680x1050 – High/Medium/Low - TechSpot

Keep in mind that these charts were done using an i7 @ 3.7GHz, which is considerably more cpu strength than possible with a dual core.

BC2 is poorly optimized, and so the more physical cores you have, the better your game runs. BC2 does not take advantage of hyper threading, so that you have hyper threading is irrelevant; as far as the game is concerned, you only have 2 cores.

Another gig of RAM wouldn't hurt either. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

about the ram thing ... ill add a 4G ram +my old 1 soon / as for the v.card i want to know the important specs about v.cards so i dont fall in the same prob again .. i want to know the average num/speed of the other specs (other thn v.ram) that makes the v.card get bettr and what these other things mean (what they ...do) also i want to know if my motherboard can take 2 v.cards to work simultaneously (Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. H55M-S2H (Socket 1156)) and at last i want to know what these things mean (in the graphics of the game) AA / HBAO /AF

There are several things which determine how a video card will perform: number of cores and shaders, clock speeds, the memory interface and onboard RAM. For now, those details don't really matter, all you want to know is which one runs your game the best.

The answer really boils down to how much do you/can you spend?

Can your board run two cards? Yes, but you would not want to do that. One of your slots is PCI-E 16x, the other PCI-E 4x, and, from the looks of it, in order to run a second card in the lower slot, you'd have to give up your USB connectors. Of course, the main issue is the video card only running at 4x; that would cripple it and make the expense not worth it. Stick with 1 really good video card.

k i kinda cant pay alot but i dont even know range of prices .... so talking about BFBC2 can u please tll me a price-name of a v.card that can run it on max graphics settings + if u know a price of a rlllyy good one so i can know the range ..thnx

Again, have a look at this chart. It will tell you what cards are running the game at. You should also look at the GTX 460's, not listed on the charts. Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 1 GB Graphics Card Review (page 11) - X-bit labs

Gaming is subjective. What an acceptable fps for you may or may not be acceptable for another, so nobody but you can make that call.

Frames per second is exactly what it says in that it is how many frames per second is displayed. FRAPS is a program that shows how many frames per second you are getting. Download it here and let it run while playing to see what you are getting.

You already know what low/less than acceptable fps is; it's why you're here. Some guys think over 30 is enough... most scoff at that notion and insist 60 fps is a good place to be. Arguments can be made that even higher than 60 is good, but, since most monitors only display at 60hz, ~ 60 fps is good.

What's more important than maximum fps though is minimum fps. You really won't notice or care if you're getting 100 fps. What you will notice and what you will care about is dipping below a certain fps. Imho, you want to do whatever you have to in order to avoid dipping below 30.
