Problem at the start up :(

Hello,

There is a delay at the startup (Welcome screen) though I don't use a solid color BG

n Sometimes instead of "Welcome" it Shows "Preparin your Desktop" n the Desktop appears in a classic mode (Win98):shock:

About the only suggestion that I can make, is to go into the Startup tab of msconfig, and disable everything that you find there and try rebooting to see if it effects the start time. If so, then go back and reenable the items one at a time and rebooting to see when the delay returns. That would be the culprit to deal with. There are some startup items not found in msconfig, and you might try using StartupCPL to disable them.

EDIT: If the above doesn't help, then it is likely that the problem is a driver. That takes more time and thought to locate. You might also check the services.msc to see if there is anything there that should be disabled.

Assuming that you didn't change it yourself, I would suggest running the Aero Troubleshooter. Often it will find that the Desktop Window Manager Session Manager service has been disabled.

EDIT: Type it into the search window of Help and Support. It will be item #1 in the list. run it and follow the wizard.

It would help if you filled out your system specs. I'm not familiar with the differences of the basic edition, so someone else probably can answer your question better than I can. However, do you have "Personalize" on the context menu, when you right click the desktop? If so, there are a number of items to check, but it would be easier for you to simply check them out for yourself, since I'm not certain of how they might differ from what I use.

It showed an error message that some file in a folder "windows" is missing or misplaced ..

If that is the case .. probably I should face this problem every time I log in ...

It would seem likely, but if you remember when the problem began, you should check to see if you have a Restore Point available that would correlate to a point just prior to that date, and run a System Restore, if that doesn't go too far back. The System Restore Wizard should tell you what programs that you have installed since, which would be effected. Take note of them so that it will be easier to reinstall them.
