I was trying to delete a few hundred email contacts all at once and it didn't look like anything was happening so I exited out of the Windows Live Mail Contact book and Windows Live Mail.....Windows Live Mail was not responding.....when I tried to go back into Windows Live Mail to open the program to see if it did delete any of the contacts.....two separate boxes came up on the Windows Live Mail screen....

One box says, "Contacts failed to load. Windows Live Mail is incorrectly configured. Please reinstall."

The 2nd box says, "Sorry, something unexpected happened and Windows Live Mail must close. Your most recent changes may not be saved." When I "X" out of this box it then closed down the whole WLM program.......so at this point I can't even get in there to do anything now..........

:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

What do I need to do to fix this problem?????

All I was doing was deleting contacts.....closed down the program probably before it was done deleting contacts.......and now I can't even get into the WLM at all.....

HELP.

You can do a "repair" install from Programs & Features of the Windows Live Essentials program. Just uncheck the install of new stuff and it should say it will do a repair of Windows Live Mail.

EDIT: If the repair doesn't seem to be working from Programs and Features you can go back to your original "wlsetup-web.exe" file that you downloaded from Microsoft. Don't download the version currently available unless you are ready to upgrade to the 2011 version (with the ribbon interface). Once again uncheck the new stuff and let it repair the old (Mail).

Just a thought to avoid this problem in the future: After doing the repair in post #2 above http://www.sevenforums.com/browsers...ail-without-boxes-showing-up.html#post1010258 perhaps it would be better to make your contact changes at contacts.live.com with WLM closed. Also with the program closed delete the "Windows Live Contacts" folder from Windows Explorer. Now when you reopen WLM and sign in it won't have to delete anything but will simply create a brand new "Windows Live Contacts" folder in Windows Explorer and populate it with your updated list on the web site.

WLM won't open

Well......after thinking it through, I decided to try to just RESTORE the whole system back to Oct. 9th......and it FIXED IT! I'm so thankful. :cool: Seems this was the easiest way to fix it.

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate your input.
