What resolution are you trying to use on the Sony?

From what I've read in the Sony Manual available on the net the ideal setup for PC apps is via the HDMI cable unless your laptop PC is older and requires the VGA and if the VGA is required there was a caveat to ensure the laptop PC's BIOS is set to utilize the VGA output, not too sure your DELL has this setting since you did state it worked in Vista. If you know anyone with an HDMI cable I'd see if they would lend it to you to find out if that works. Another thing would be to verify the Sony settings for PC have not changed from when it was working. The 50 MHz and 60 MHz settings do cause problems on occasion but mainly when the GPU can't resolve it, I doubt the nVidia can't.

This may sound like a dumb question, but have you tried rebooting the PC while it's connected to the TV?
