Hi everyone:)
Since few days I'm having problems with connecting new usb devices to my laptop. All devices connected after a fresh OS instalation works fine (windows was able to find drivers by itself). Now I can't connect even a simple flash drive (windows can't find drivers online). I'm having this problem with any new device that was not previously connected to my laptop.
Thanks for any help:)

Hi WickedOne, Looking again at the Lenovo website I see they are now offering a IntelUSB 3 driver, try that ,As regards the Chipset driver problem it could have just been a corrupt driver download ,Try the USB driver 1st see if that sorts the problem :)

Are you installing the correct drivers for Windows 7 and not trying to install the Windows 8 drivers which are listed underneath?

Yes :) I've tried to update mainboard drivers at Intel's official website but it couldn't be recognized :/

I suggest you re-format and re-install the OS again.

Before doing the re-format and re-install download all the hardware drivers such as chipset for windows 7 and all other drivers from the computer manufacturer's website and burn them to a cd or dvd.

After installation of Windows 7 then first thing you do is install all the hardware drivers starting with chipset do not connect to the internet until all drivers have been installed and an internet security package has been installed either.

After all drivers have been installed check your USB is working.

Important you download the correct drivers for your OS.

Drivers are correct for sure (got CD inside the box with my laptop). I've done what you said, once, and it worked, but today I have the same problem (not even one month after reinstalling Windows). Reinstalling OS again is not an option right now, because I don't know what is causing the problem.

Part of the problem i think when you originally installed windows you used windows update to install hardware drivers which are only generic and may have incompatibilities can't be sure.

You should always install the hardware drivers from the computer manufacturer's website as there drivers are specific to the hardware and less likely to have problems.

If it was a custom build then from the motherboard anufacturers website.

I advise you to get all the hardware drivers from the computer manufacturer's website and burn them to a disc. Then re-format and re-install.

You could be there looking for weeks using various tools such as autoruns or process explorer to try and find a culprit.

A re-install will take an hour or so.

I see it from the other side:
It was working (usb ports) for almost a month and now it's not working for some reason, and I think the problem is not in drivers I used after installing OS (because everything was working fine).
I agree that reinstalling Windows will be easiest solution, but if it happen again (usb not working) it will be wasted time, and I will be in the same point i'm right now.

Anyway, no solution for me this time :(

I think you would have to look at what else has been installed and correlate that with when the problem started work back in effect there may be a problem somewhere.

One thing you can try is use system restore to return your machine to an earlier point in time before the problem happened and see if that cures it and then work out what programs or downloads that you currently have installed that are not installed and then install one by one and check USB ports.

Another option is to use msconfig and go to startup and uncheck half the startup items and reboot and see if that cures the problem then checkmark one satrtup item at a time doing a re-boot and cheking if the usb ports are active.
If the usb ports are not working after unchecking half the startup items then uncheck a further 5 items and check after reboot until you find it works.

You may find an offending startup item that may be interfereing and find the program or driver that is the offender.

Also in msconfig if startup items is unsuccessful click on services place a checkmark on hide all microsoft services and repeat the above.

Yes, I agree, but before that is there any way to "force" installation of Intel drivers? What is causing the error during installation?

You could try downloading revo installer and see ifthat can force an install.

First open a cmd prompt by right clicking and choosing run as administrator and type:

sfc /scannow press enter

Let it repair anything it finds and restart computer if prompted to do so.

Try and do the install again.

sfc /scannow - Windows found some errors and repaired them but still no changes with my problem :/

Correct me if im wrong but there is no such app like revoinstaller. I only found revo uninstaller and this app don't have "install" option ;)
