Problem deleting Windows 7 from dual boot

Hi everyone, I have a small problem I hope someone can help me with.

I have a desktop computer, almost 10 years old, running fine with Windows XP, with two partitions, C: for system, and D: for data.

Recently I tried to install Windows 7 in a new partition E:, and it works fine, there is dual boot (Earlier Version of Windows, and Windows 7). But my graphic card (Geforce2) is not supported by Windows 7, so all the 3D aero effects don't work, and then there is no point having W7, and I formatted the partition and joined it back with D:, to have only XP.

The problem now is the dual boot keeps showing every time I start my computer, even though there is no Windows 7 anymore!! And unless I choose "Earlier Version of Windows", Windows 7 starts by default after 30 seconds, but it says I need to insert installation disc and restore the system.

I read something about going to "Control Panel/System/Advanced/Startup and Recovery/Default Operating System", change the "Default operating system" and untick the "Time to display list of operating systems", but in that list there is only this:

"Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /FASTDETECT /NOEXECUTE=ALWAYSOFF

So, what could I do? Is it safe to insert Windows XP disc and restore? I mean, will that wipe off all the programs and stuff I have installed?

Thanks!

Boot the win 7 install disc.

When you get the "Install Now" window, press shift+F10 together.

A black command window pops up.

Type this:

bootsect /NT52 all

then press enter.

Restart the pc.
