i have a problem doing a system image restore. it goes to roughly 45 percent and i get w errors. one error says that the operationg failed due to a error encountered with either the source or the destination and the other "additional imformation error said the request could not be perforemd because of an I/O error (0x8007045D).
im really new to the whole restoring part so any helped would be glady usefull
edit: im trying to get take it from my computer thats losing its hdd and putting it onto a seagate freeagent goflex drive, so later i can put it onto my new WD hdd i got

From looking at the Microsoft KB article below, running a chkdsk /Rcommand for each drive letter may be able to help. Afterwards, see if you may be able to do the system image recovery.
ok so i go to start type in cmd.exe run as admin and then type in chkdsk /R.
if this is correct then i have enother problem.... it says that chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. would you have any idea what that would be or what certain things i could look for.

You could do OPTION TWO in the tutorial below to run the chkdsk (drive letter): /R command at boot for each drive letter (ex: backup drive and drive to be restored to).
i just tried option 2 with no avail. i still got the same problem stated above, however im going with option 1 and trying to do it threw a schedule restart as soon as the old hdd stops acting up and bluescreening me ill post back with an update

Update: i was able to fully do a chkdsk run and it fully finished! after that i was fully able to do a complete image recovery onto my portable hdd. im not sure if there are other steps to do after this so i shall await anyones information
