Not sure whats wrong but its happened twice so far. I have an acer netbook with w7 ultimate. Today, I closed my netbook, and put it away. Tonight I came back and opened it up and it acted as if i shut it down. Saying it wasnt shut down properly. When I sign in and it loads onto the desktop, a popup appears and says windows wasnt shut down properly and gives me this information:

Has anyone ever had this happen to them? When I click "check for solutions" itll check, then the popup disappears and thats the end of it. Its happened twice so far. Aside from that, the netbook doesnt seem to have any problems after that. I did notice a week or two ago that I had a blue screen pop up when i started windows, and said something about "if this is the first time youve seen this screen restart your computer" Didnt quite pay attention to it because I restarted it and didnt see it again that i know of.

and/or SIW to gather info for filling in the blanks.
You can also use the System Spec tool from this fine tutorial:

Do me a favor. Please add the word laptop or desktop to the “system manufacturer” block.

Provide full windows version info, such as provided by Speccy:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader, Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor

Scroll down and click on the SAVE CHANGES button.

My bad, wasnt to sure if it was a bsod problem specifically. Updated my specs. Doing the bsod specifics now..

go to an elevated command prompt and run:
POWERCFG -H OFF

What anti-virus software do you have installed?

What firewall software do you have installed?

I typed the command and it didnt say anything, Should it have? Heres the files.

You are correct. There is no response when you issue the command. One way of knowing if the command worked is to do a restart and see if you have a hiberfil.sys file in your root of your system drive.


Will take a look at the .txt files after a cup of coffee and get back to you.

You are your own worst enemy.

You have much junk on there which should simply be uninstalled.

For the immediate action:

rb: | MSCONFIG | ENTER | STARTUP tab |

UNCHECK ALL except for :
Sidebar C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\sidebar.exe /autoRun
MSC "c:\Program Files\Microsoft Security Client\msseces.exe" -hide -runkey

RESTART your computer.

Now you haven't deleted any programs by doing that. That has simply told Win 7 not to run the programs at start up time.


After all that then,

And I will be adding to that list.

After you have a stable system, then only by first creating a system restore point, reinstalling one and only one of them and seeing if problems develop can we go about reinstalling.

Some of those programs I have used myself. I have also removed them.

Well so far my netbook hasnt had the problem of turning on properly. So do you think its fixed or to early to tell?
