Hi,
I have a laptop with Windows 7 64bit and Office 2003. I have some printers over network and setted as default the HP LJ 1300n. It working good, but sometimes neither Word, neither Excel don't find any printer. Then I'll close all applications and saw in Task Manager a Word application and I cannot "kill" it... I must log-out and re-enter in Win and then works again... I've installed last drivers for that printer (Universal Driver). Is there any Office/Windows update to fix it?

Thanks in advanced

i am willing to bet this is not an office issue. Next time this happens leave office open and got to your printers. Open the Printer Properties for the printer you are trying to print to and print a test page. If the page prints then you are correct in assuming it is an Office issue. If the page still does no print then the issue is with the printer driver or the print spooler on your pc.

I agree it sounds like a printer issue, not an office issue.

I recommend you remove the universal driver and install the driver specificly for the printer. I've had issues in the past with the universal driver.

I support several HP printers here and all of them use the printer specific driver with no problems.

On that problem, all other programs like OOffice, pdf or testing to print a page works and print without any problems. And isn't the only printer that I cannot see, but all printers "disappears" (like 4 other network printers) and pdfcreator too. Just ask me if I want to install printer. And that error always come after some hours of work (writing and printing more than 100 pages). I've tried to find a specific driver but unlucky. On official page of HP have Universal Driver for Win7 of that printer.

Your printer is supported by Windows 7. You'll need to click the Windows Update button at the Install the printer driver screen to update your list of drivers. You'll also have to settle for a PCL5 driver, but I suspect it's better than the UPD. At least give that a try.
