Hello. I received today an update concerning Games for Windows - Live 3.3. I tried to apply the update, but after it created a restore point, it couldn't install it. I got an error Code 646, and I can't get any help from their site(it sais failed: 1 update); it isn't a problem like I am having a program opened that is causing a conflict, because I rebooted the system, try to install the update, and still I got the same error. What should I do? Thank you for future replies.

Yours, Emilyan

First thing would be to disable your Firewall or at least add the MS Download Site as a trusted zone the recycle the Firewall, turn it off then on again and retry.

If you don't have a Firewall I would shut down Media Center and any MS Games which may be running.

If you aren't running MC or a game then I would open Windows Update to see exactly what updates have failed today and see if it expands the reason to more than the 646 error then post what you find.

I have disabled firewall, I don't have Media Center opened in task manager at processes, and neither a MS game. But still, I get this error. There were 4 updates: KB981793, KB981981, KB982632 and Games for Windows Live 3.3. First three were installed succesfully, but the last one couldn't be installed because of this problem.

EDIT: problem solved, I clicked on support, on update window, at that update, redirected me to the site, from where I downloaded that update separately. I installed it, then when i clicked on update now, it just appear update succedeed. Thank you for your help(open game for windows site)!
