Problem installing

Hi.
I was using windows-xp perviously. Now i want to replace it with windows-7. I put the bootable cd and successfully booted from it. But it doesnt show my hard disk. Should i have to configeure something in the bios?
This system used to work in xp. and my hard disk is sata.
