problem reinstalling, missing file or entry

i tried to install windows 7 using the installation cd.i selected the option to download latest installation files from the Internet. After about an hour, it said one of the setup files was missing. I chose repair your computer, and this message appeared: the selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt status 0xc 000000f, file name is winload.exe.i checked the bios boot order, it already has cd rom as first option then hard disc. The Pc already had windows 7, but i want a clean install. what should i do? Thank you for any help.

Have you checked the installation disc is not scratched etc..

I would probably try doing another clean install without selecting the option Download Latest Installation files.

thanks for your reply.i can't see any scratches on the disc. I can't get to the place where it says, install using Internet for latest files, it go straight to the place where it says there's an error.

yes it came from microsoft and it installed 2 years ago, i'm trying to reinstall now

You need to boot the Win7 disk to Clean Reinstall Windows 7 which provides the Drive Options to delete all partitions for the cleanest install.

If the problem persists try cleaning the disk, then Troubleshoot Windows 7 Installation Failures - Windows 7 Help Forums

I asked them for a reason. Just to make sure you were using the proper media.

It would need to be a DVD. As DVD's have around 4GB capacity and a Windows OS is around 2/3GB. CD's mainly are 700MB Capacity so would not be able to take all of the Windows operating system.

If it is a CD this might be why...

Windows 7 does not fit on a dvd, your disc came from the manufacturer so this should not be your concern.

I`ve never seen or done an install where it asks to do updates during the install.

I was concerned that the disc could of been one that came with the computer and not a complete disc for installing Windows 7.

The pictures are a little different when you do a Repair Install from withing Windows and a Clean Install from the DVD outside of Windows 7.

Windows 7 comes on a DVD from Microsoft and I don't believe it will fit on a C/D.

I think we have all seen a thread when a member didn't have the proper disc and had problems.

For those nice people around the world read this thread.

A Repair Install has to be done while booted into Windows 7.

A Clean Install has to be done when not booted into Windows 7.

Jack, I think it`s just a word confusion, many people will just call the disc a cd, they never think twice about it

A CD would contain only a rescue boot, which would end up calling upon the manufacturer's hidden system reserved partition, or, call for the insertion of a DVD to complete the process -- do I undertand that correctly?
