Problem saving large excel files

I have 2 excel files, One file A is 18MB and the other B is 25MB.
I try to vlookup the data from A in B.
A has approx 96000 entries whereas B has 265000 entries.

The Vlookup function itself takes 12 minutes whereas at the time of file saving, excel gives the message "File not responding"

Can somebody help me with this.

It might be time to move to a real database then instead of using Excel. How about using Access or MySQL instead?

Are you at least using 64-bit Excel?

AS well as the suggestion by strollin in Post #2, your computer may have not have enough RAM or has other limits on it's capacity. Your System Specs are very vague & we can't see any details about your computer set up.
