Problem Sharing a Windows XP Printer in Windows 7

I have searched the Internet and followed the instructions carefully
Windows 7 sees the printer in Devices and Printers.
When I try to print a document, it is shown as spooling in Devices and Printers when I click on the printer icon.
I can see the network Icon in Windows XP flashing but the printer never comes up.
It is set to share and password is off, firewall is off, and the workgroup names are the same.
What next?

One of the problems is when you connect to a network printer Windows has to get the drivers from the host PC but being XP it won't be correct driver. What does spooler say if something has stalled it will block any other prints
