I have a slow PC(windos xp) and my brother have a good Laptop (windows8.1 pro) and i want to connect from my PC remotely to his laptop(we live in the same room),sorry for my english. So we also have a router and i think i made all the right changes,i also checked on both computers:

-allow users to connect remotely
-on his computer i create 2 users and then i added both users to ''Select Remote Users'' and everything went perfect i was able to connect remotelly on his laptop but now comes the problem:when he ''shut down'' the laptop I can not connect remotelly to his laptop anymore, how to fix that?

Here are his Ip's and are the only changes i made to the router config.
Virtual servers:

Code:
Service Port Internal Port IP Address Protocol Status Modify
               1 3389 3389 xxx.xxx.0.101 ALL Enabled Modify Delete
DHCP/Adress Reservation

Code:
ID MAC Address Reserved IP Address Status Modify
1 B0-C0-90-44-69-25 xxx.xxx.0.101 Enabled Modify Delete
I use this wan IP to connect remotelly:

WAN
MAC Address: 00-13-8F-1C-08-3A
IP Address: x.xx.201.149 PPPoE(Connect Automatically)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.255

Do you want to have access as a user or you want to share files and folders.

I use TeamViewer to access other computers. It's like you're using his computer with your screen, mouse and keyboard. You can download or upload from / to your computer. VERY GOOD. http://download.teamviewer.com/download/TeamViewer_Setup.exe

If the remote has WOL BIOS setting (Wakeup on Lan) you can send a command by LAN to wake it up.

:when he ''shut down'' the laptop I can not connect remotelly to his laptop anymore, how to fix that?

The problem is evident, when a computer is shut down, it stops doing everything and is simply turned off! It's logical that you won't be able to connect, it's impossible to a turned off machine. The "fix" is trivially simple: ask him to leave the computer turned on when he leaves and otherwise not using it.
This is the exact reason why servers are powered 24/7, nobody wants his website down when the IT staff leaves.

This is true not only with computers. Every imaginable machine does literally "nothing" when turned off, this has been the same since centuries ago :p

About Wake-On-Lan, for it to work, you need to setup it in the BIOS, then in Windows you don't shut down, but instead either hibernate or suspend (when powered off, it doesn't works). Also, you need a wired connection, and obviously the computer needs power (plugged to the wall, but a battery will do for a while).
On the client side, you need to use a special program for sending the "magic packet" that triggers the power on, wait for it to fully start, then you can connect.

Do you have permission to connect to his PC? You don't need to open ports on the router if your using local network it's only needed to connect via internet
