Problem using netbook with Apple router

I have just purchased an Acer netbook with windows 7 starter installed. When I went to connect to my wireless network powered by my Apple airport extreme router which is password protected with a WEP password, I was prompted to enter the network key/password to join. Upon entering the password( which works fine on my other computers on the network) it said the password was invalid? I can not seem to find a reason or solution to the problem. Any ideas? Thanks.

If all devices on the network are capable, you should run WPA2 with AES encryption.

It will probably solve the issue and you'll actually have security then, too.
