Problem with counter strike 1.6

I have already installed counter strike 1.6 in my laptop.My laptop's configuration is windows 7 ultimate 64 bit,Intel core i3,3 gb of ram.The game is running but when I throw a HG,its running slow & lagging.plz help me.

Your computer must be archaic to lag running CS 1.6
How old is it? Does it overheat?

My pc is nearly 3 years old.When I run the game in software mode,there is no problem in it with the lag,but graphics is to low to watch & play in this mode.
