Problem with Dual Screen Setup

I am trying to set up my laptop so that I have dual screens with my TV being the second screen. I have been using an LKV 2000 with Windows XP with no problem whatsoever but Windows 7 doesn't even seem to recognize that the cables are plugged in when the computer is on and therefore I cannot set dual screens up. I am going to "Set Up Displays" but it will neither detect nor automatically read the other display. If the cables are plugged in and I restart the computer it will put my desktop image on the TV, but not the laptop, so I know that the connections must be correct. I have re-installed drivers several times and that did not do anything.

How do I fix this problem?

Welcome!

What drivers did you install? If you haven't done so already, try updating your graphics card drivers.

I just updated my specs under my profile.

I downloaded Driver Whiz to find outdated drivers and install them for me because I don't know much at all about drivers.

Are you sure you have your model number correct? I could not find a Vostro 1080 on Dell. Could you have a 1088?

If so, try downloading and installing the latest graphics card driver from here: Drivers and Downloads

Dell Vostro... Can you look at the box that came with your computer, tell us what the box say about your laptop's specification... Your driver is not up to date, since the Display adapter is using windows generic display driver.

I actually have a Vostro 1510, which I had listed wrong before (I am trying this through LogMeIn while I am work and don't know why I thought 1080). I went back to Dell to download the appropriate driver a pop up says "There are no files to download. Please go to Drivers and Downloads to select files(s). I press OK and it just goes away.

Try going to Dell.com, and at the bottom you will see Drivers and Downloads. You can input your service tag, or manually select your system.

OK I was finally able to get past that pop up and download it (it just wouldn't work with Google Chrome) but I am still unable to use dual screens.

OK I FINALLY fixed the problem. The original problem was that I could not download from Google Chrome. Once I got that I was having trouble unzipping the files. I restarted my computer and then didn't have trouble unzipping. I did finally get it though and I want to thank you guys for helping me through this problem. Much appreciated.
