Problem with HDD(Disk error)

Hello Se7en users,i'm new here,i have a big problem with my HDD,but first of all i want to sorry for my english mistakes and for the big novel posted,but you need all explained to understand what kind of problem is. .

Now let's start : 3 days ago windows has started to make some big updates,pc needed to shutdown to install that uptates.In that day windows started to crash and gave me 2 errors from "windows explorer" .Late in the day i shutdown my computer,all looked normally but when i started my computer,the logo from windows didn't appear and didn't boot anymore.I have one more HDD,a little old one with 20GB on IDE.I installed on it windows xp and my 160 gb seagate(SATA 2) on slave.Windows started automatically on disk check-recovery.Finally i entered in XP,i can see my 160gb hard,have the acces of 75% of files,but i can't acces Libraries section,i disperately need to recover my photos and documents.(I had windows 7 on 160 gb drive)

Ok,doesn't work,i installed windows 7 on 20gb drive to make a repair disk.I entered windows recovery,boot errors are there but repair disk can't fix them.I tried repair with image file,the same problem.

Now another solution,to make a full copy of my 160HDD on external 1TB drive to finally format my hard drive and install a new fresh windows 7.
Booted on my windows 7(20gb drive),i installed EASEUS Partition master,i see here my full HDD,there was a copy partition option(my 160 GB drive is only a partition)but i made a very stupid mistake here,i pressed the "set active" button(i don't know why,i was just stupid).I didn't made a copy or everything,i shutdown my computer because was late in the night,i decidet to copy my hdd in this morning.

Now the big problem,my pc can't pass hardware check when my 160GB drive is connected,i can't enter bios or something...NOTHING! . .

Now my question: is any solution to reverse the "set active" option?Or is there an aplication to boot the hard drive as slave directly from windows 7?Like an External drive when i connecting directly booted in windows 7?

The hard-drive needs to be set to active. I hope this helps.

Tried the set as active option from command prompt,doesn't work,the same problem.

I made a XP LIVE CD,before booting in xp i connected my 160 drive and xp recognizes it as slave . I managed to recover 10% of files("symbian all stuff folder"-->see screenshot) but the new problem is : i had my pictures,music and videos exactly in libraries and i can't gain access into that section.Is there a method to gain access to that folders and finally save my files?Probably there are some settings in permissions or is needed something else?

Here i post some screens,in that momemt i had all my drives connected,local disk D is my 1TB external drive,but xp can't recognize it because it is in exFAT formated.

The 160 gb hard drive is "Windows Se7en"(only a partition)

Yes i tried this for the first time,repair disk was my first ideea .

LE: if i gain access to all my files from HDD,the problem is solved,i will recover my files,a 100% format and install a new fresh windows.

Did you try accessing via the Users folder?

User\username\my documents.

There doesn't seem to be a User's folder in the screenshot.

Try the method theog posted - you should find the User folder that way.

Burn the Partition Wizard bootable CD (see left pane of webpage). With that you can manipulate your partitions any way you like independent of the Operating System.

I reached step 6,but there doesn't appear any "documents and settings "folder...or "user" folder:shock:.I tried to make a full copy from my 160 gb hard drive to my 1TB external drive,but doesn't work. See screenshot. Libraries are empty.

I have only default user,default and all users. I have 0% access to default user.:huh:

I'm out of ideeas,probably that files are simply lost.

Booted on partition master CD i started to explore my 160gb drive,but when i click documents and setting,nothing happens.At least,after a Partition recovery wizard process,my pc can start with my hdd connected.I think...recovering my files is hopeless.

I will make later a Copy partition wizard,copy my 100% 160gb partition partition to 1TB external drive and finally i start a format...and what i will recover later from this Copy partition i don't know,but i'm starting to feel hopeless.

I'l wait a reply from you and probably i will start the format.

All user specific folders aren't accessible,but if i enter in windows folder i have full acces .I don't need to recover windows files,i need to recover user files

I finally managed to recover my files with power data recovery(awesome tool),all my files are recovered.

Also, thank you for your help and for the interest helping me .

I am booted now on 160gb drive,it's working like a charm
