I have tried that and.........nope.avi. It appears to be a problem with google update.

Ok, I got it to work, but it is sorta a hack. Essentially what you do is you copy the C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\Google\Update from a working Win7 computer to the system with the problem. Once there, you look under Downloads in the Update Folder. You should be able to search for a file named "gsync.msi". You run that file, now go back to the generic Google directory, and there should be a new folder named "Drive". Go into that folder and run the googledrivesync.exe. Now Google drive should work. This should be usefull for those of you out there experiencing the "Error 0x8004071" upon startup of the installer.

RESOLVED: I ran into the same problem. I reinstalled MS Office 2007. Re-tried the Google Drive install and it worked!!!

I hope this helps. Good luck.
