Hey

Well my friend is facing some issues with his pc.
He's got Win 7 installed.
Today he was starting his pc but as soon as he did that it rebooted.
So he tried again. But again there was the same issue. It kept rebooting as soon as it would start up.
And now it's not even starting up anymore. What could the problem be?

He needs to get access to one as I think all he can do is to boot up from the installation DVD and do a repair. I don't know any other way. Gone are the days of using a boot up floppy:rolleyes:

Also I have an old Windows XP Laptop for backup/occasional use etc.
Boot the Win7 DVD Repair console or Repair CD, accept any offered Repair. If it won't start, boot back in and click through to Recovery Tools list to run Startup Repair up to 3 separate times until it starts.

If it still won't start, make sure WIn7 is marked Active using DISKPART from the DVD/CD Command Line: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/71432-partition-mark-active.html then run Startup Repair again x3.

On the possibility that the OS is unbootable due to infection, try booting, updating and then running one of the bootable AV scans: http://www.techmixer.com/free-bootable-antivirus-rescue-cds-download-list/ If it cleans up an infection, try Startup Repair again x3.

If this won't work, you can copy out your files using this method: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/93347-copy-paste-windows-recovery-console.html

Then find an installer for your licensed version and clean reinstall after wiping the HD to overwrite any possibly infected code: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/91339-ssd-hdd-optimize-windows-reinstallation.html

Thanks for all your replies :D

I had told him to reinstall windows, I'll ask him if he got it running or not
