I have an Asus P8Z77-V board and my front dock has just stopped working. Thinking it was a problem with the PCB of the dock I slipped the 500GB drive into an internal slot and still it did not show up in Computer using the ports indicated in the pic with the red arrow.
Hooked up the SATA lead to the black arrowed port and now the drive shows up in Computer.
I am at a loss as to what drivers are for which from the list of SATA drivers can someone please help as I have read the manual and still cannot make out from the lists here https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8Z77V/#support I need to download to see if there is a problem with the driver for those red arrowed ports.

Here's the details for your SATA ports below. You would want the Asmedia SATA Controller Driver V1.3.4.0 driver. You might also double check to make sure that this SATA port is still enabled in your BIOS.
Thanks Shawn I will fix them up tomorrow as I couldn't work out which was which.
What is a bit of cause for concern is why did the two ports (navy blue) cease functioning anyway that were servicing the two front removable case docks?
Having said that I have had a few problems lately and one thing I haven't done is run a bootable rescue disk to check for malware from power on though I suspect I am being a tad overly suspicious re that issue.

A few usual suspects off the top of my head that could have caused this are bad driver update, driver got uninstalled, or got disabled in BIOS.
You could also try a system restore using a restore point dated before they stopped working to see if that may help if it was only something simple as a cause.
