Problem With Screen Suddenly Going Dark: Thoughts On ?

Hello,

Always "something," I guess.

Have a 3-1/2 yr old HP Desktop running W7.
Everything works fine; always has, until yesterday.

Now, after 5 or so hrs of use, the screen (suddenly) goes absolutely dark.
The pilot light switch on the case is still illuminated.

Nothing I can do will have it show anything, until I pull the plug, wait a few seconds, and then re-plug it back in, and push the start button on the case. Then, all is 100 % fine again after it goes thru it's normal start-up sequence.

Any ideas on what might be happening ?
Any and all thoughts would be most appreciated.

Your system specs don't specify anything, but what monitor do you have? How is it connected to the system? Does the system have a graphics card or are you using VGA off the mother board? Current with all MS patches? What happens if you turn the monitor off and then back on after 15 seconds or so? CTL/ALT/DEL does nothing when the blackout occurs? Is the tower getting hot internally, like insufficient cooling? Have you run it with the case open?

Hello I had a problem with black screen also and it turned out to be a Trojan have you run a full scan on your system yet.

Without filling in your My System Specs their isn't much help that can be given.

We need to know what we are working with.

Look at my system specs in lower left of this post and your will get a good idea of useful information.
