Problem with switching ISP.

I am moving house and my ISP (Virgin) will not transfer their service to my new area because Virgin now only supports fibre optic connections. I have agreed a new ISP contract and email address and I have emailed everyone in my address book to advise them of my new email from the end of the month.

So far so good. However what do I do about all the web sites such as Amazon, eBay and all the Forums etc. that I am registered with? The new ISP takes over from the old ISP on the same day (The day I move house). So if I want to change my registration details how do I go about it? If I log in after the changeover date the website will not recognise my email address because I have a new ISP and email. If I log in before changeover and register, the new email the web site will not recognize the new email because the new ISP will not have taken over. I am registered with dozens of sites and I really do not want to have to re-register with all these sites. Am I missing something here? Any advice would be appreciated.

I could set up a new email account with Gmail, Hotmail or Outlook.com now and register with the web sites but I really don't want to do this. Are any of these free email providers better than the others.

I really do not need this in the middle of moving. Any help appreciated.

You shouldn't have a problem logging into those other sites, it's only a login on their site, once you get your new email you can change it after logging in with your old one.

You have to go through the hassle of changing it anyway, they will just want you to confirm it by sending you an email to your new address.

I almost switched ISP's a while back so I know what you're going through, I went around and changed my email just about everywhere, it was a hassle.

Places like Amazon and EBay would the first ones to do, then the forums. You don't have to re-register with all of them just change your email in the account settings of each one.

I have Outlook and Gmail both so they are good alternatives if you want to start changing things now.

Thank you very much derekimo. The point is that I will not have the two ISPs at the same time and I will have a new email address. So when I log in to change my email address surely the site will not recognize my old email log in because I will no longer have that ISP and the old email address will not be recognised. My old ISP service will be cancelled on the same day as the new ISP takes over.

Am I missing something here? Your help is appreciated.

I think you are expecting them to only let you log in because they recognize your ISP, they only want your log in details, they don't care if you have a new ISP.

You can still login with an old email address because it is just your login credentials. Once logged in, you can change your email to the new one, and confirm it with the confirmation email they will send to the new one.

Hope that explains it a little better. :)

Once your Contract stops with Virgin you have twelve weeks after that your email will not work ..

If that is the case that would be a great relief. It is chaos here and in the middle of moving house I did not expect Virgin to tell me that they would not continue my service.

Many thanks for your help..................

and Maxie I did not realise that so many thanks.
