Anybody else got the problem that Win7 does not save the preferences of the notification bar? (Which icons to show and which not)
CurrentVersion: 64bit build 7100
I got the AppData & ProgramData moved to other Partitions. Maybe something got lost along the way, so does anybody know where Win7 saves those settings for the tray icons?

Also, if you've moved the folders have you edited the registry for any folder location changes?
   Note
I think there's something in the REG about the notification area, you may need to search for it as i'm on a Vista laptop at the minute :p

Thanks, but resetting the tray cache was no help, unfortunatly. Just relogging hides all but the standard Speaker & Action Center icons.

I have been looking into the registry, and of course have been changing paths (otherwise nothing would work anymore, no?), but in this case, I am pretty clueless what to search for.

There is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\NotificationArea
got 2 nodes "PromotedIcon" 1 & 2, but no content or something that would indicate anything at all.

Adding a new realization for the problem: Win7 automatically removes the programs it should already know from the list whenever I log off / restart. Until I start the programs again.
It does a similar thing in the "Open File with" dialogue, where it tends to not show the program I just browed for (example: Notepad++)
Aand it tends to not show anything in the start menu, when I click on "All Programs", but it finds those links in the programs-menu, when I type sth. into the search bar...

I've narrowed the problem down to getting "Error Accessing Registry" notifications, whenever I try changing something in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes.
In fact, I am missing a whole tree under \Local Settings there. that key is empty!
So, any ideas, how this Error Accessing can be caused? Hive should be in the AppData\Local\...\Windows\usrclass.dat, no? But that one got full access, I made sure of that now.
