Problem with USB port

same thing here

I've had this problem with xp. Only drives under 1gb would work. I assumed it was some sort of hardware issue as this is a crappy computer
Installed win7 and right away my 1tb drive was working fine on the computer but after restarting it does the same olde code 43. Haven't tried the battery thing but if that works i will be pretty annoyed if that is the only way to fix it.
mental.
Also this problem happened about 2 years ago after doing nothing. One day it just decided to not work.
Was it some sort of update way back then that changed how computers work???

I finally found out the problem. One of my sticks of memory was going bad. (I started having other problems also) I replaced both of them and have not had a single problem of any kind since. Who knew.

Installed 120mm heatsink over CPU with a 120mm case fan using Artic Silver 5 thermal paste. I downloaded and installed the Win 7 Graphics Driver From The Nvidia web site.
If you have problems w/ usb power, you may want to consider a USB hub.

I'd recommend getting a powered usb hub. It'll cut down the speed of your transfers if you have multiple devices on one hub but you wont have problems with power as long as you don't connect a power hog at the same time as a usb stick.

Problem fixed. The Gigabyte Mobo was the problem, I upgraded to an asus mobo and problem solved. I think the gigabyte was starting to die on me, one of my e PCI slot was dead and then the USB error.. So far all my gigabyte mobos (3 of them on different pcs) seem to die after a couple years or so. Usually the ePCI slot with the graphic card on it.
