Sometimes when connecting an optical USB mouse in Win 7 Utimate it does not work, although the laser comes on. Could this be a hardware issue? If yes, is it the laptop, or the mouse?

Have you tried unplugging the mouse and plugging it back in? How about using a different USB port?

I'm wondering if maybe the mouse isn't getting good contact with the USB port.

I did take it off and on again, but not in a different port. The strange thing is that it had its laser light on and blinking when moving it.

It's possible the mouse is getting electrical contact, but not communicating with the computer.

I have cleaned up the contacts in the port and in the mouse. I must admit that I had no problems all day today. Thanks a million for your support!
