Problem With Windows Explorer

I am not sure if this is the right sub-forum but it seemed the best match. Subject problem consists of frequent instances of Windows Explorer crashing to the DT. The problem has been occurring since I loaded the OS, approximately two months ago, on a new computer I built. A dialog box pops up stating that windows explorer has stopped working with the option to try to find a solution or close down. No solution is found. There is an arrow that allows you to see details of the problem. I copied the last two, which are different, shown below:

The info is all Greek to me but I am hoping someone will be able to provide some assistance as to what to do to resolve this issue. I thought of doing a repair installation of Windows 7 as I have done with XP (if you can) but I decided to try to find out more before I took any action. Any info/assistance that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

If that doesn't work you could try a repair install. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html

I appreciate your reply, garysgold. I ran scannow and it did not detect any problems so I guess I will do a repair install this weekend, although it almost seems futile based on the scannow results.

garysgold, I did a repair instal on Monday per the instructions in the link in your post and I have not had a crash since. It appears that the problem is solved (knock on wood!!). Thank you for your assistance.
