A while back I was not able to connect to the internet even though I really was connected. I would get an error message when I would try to diagnose the problem saying it could connect but microsoft.com or something or another wasn't responding.
I figured out I could use the internet while in safe mode with networking. After a while I got sick of it and used the system restore and went back. Everything then worked fine. I found out that it went back to before it installed updates.
My computer updated while I wasn't home a few days ago and Im in the same boat and I cant restore my system to before the update this time and even though it wasn't a permanent fix it made it so I could fully use my computer.
If you need any information to help me out with this issue please let me know

That royally messed something up. I installed the fix it thing was not allowed to run it in safe mode so I restarted my computer, ran it and had it restart mu computer after it was done. Internet was not changed and I was not allowed to trouble shoot the connection. Turned off my computer turned it back on, was asked to choose an operating system chose uhm the only one I hAve, windows 7, then selected run n safe mode with networking it never started up it stayed on the safe mode start up screen. Turned off my computer and back on and it said that it was going to preform a disk check, it was not allowed to do the disk check. So I tried safe mode again and it did the same thing and wouldn't start up. I really don't have to money to bring it to someone but looks like that's what I'm going to have to do

I would burn to CD a bootable AV to scan for infection: FREE Bootable AntiVirus Rescue CDs Download List

Boot the WIn7 DVD Repair console or Repair CD, accept any offered Repair. If it fails, boot back in to Recovery Tools list to run Startup Repair repeatedly. System Repair Disc - Create

If this fails, boot back into Recov Tools list to try manually System Restoring to your earliest Restore Point, hopefully before the problem began for you.

Once you start Win7, check the Event Viewer>Admin View to google repeat errors to find how others have resolved them. Run sfc /scannow as Admin to check system Files. Try a Repair Install .

Test your HD using maker's full diag/repair CD scan: Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities Then test your RAM using memtest86 CD for 5-6 passes.

You can copy out your files of unbootable Win7 using DVD or Repair CD: Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console

Then you can consider wiping the HD to clean reinstall Win7: SSD - HDD Optimize for Windows Reinstallation which is especially important in case you are infected.

tess24278, have you scanned your PC with an anti-virus and an anti-spyware/malware application? Malware can definitely mess up your ability to get to Windows updates.

Follow gregrocker's advice ... something is surely messed up with your OS.

Try below independly you have the same error code or not:
You may encounter temporary connection-related errors when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update to install updates

Windows Update error 80072ee2

Fixing Windows Update Error 0x80072ee2

If nothing help uninstall all 3p security software and reset router to defaults

If really nothing help I would suspect infection.
