Problem with x64

Hi. Im have a problem with installing 64-bit (Im installing directly from the desktop which i have done with the latest two builds) and every time this little box pops up.
My computer IS 64-bit capable. (Says my WEI score.)

Anyone got a sulotion?

Yes, he is - running it from the desktop.

You canot 'upgrade' from x86 to x86-64 sergio.

Well you could buy some more DVD's that would be the best thing to do and at least you have it there to reuse when you need it.

you'll have to get it burned somehow.

I know you can create a VHD, and if VHDs are simply ISOs it would work to create a VHD in your x86 install and then boot to it and let it install - but I don't think that is going to happen here like this.

Let me do some digging.

Maybe but I have never tried.

If you feel like giving it a go then follow the instructions here but use your 160 instead of the memory stick/sd card

If you found a way to get the contents of the iso on to it and make it bootable, yes. I would have a look at the tutorial that applies to getting the files onto a USB device, i'm sure the same principles apply. But, check your BIOS boot menu to see if you can boot into a USB device. This option does not exisit on older BIOS'.

Run CMD.EXE and type the following. WARNING: This set of commands assumes that the USB flash drive is addressed as “disk 1″. you should double check that by doing a list of the disks (type “list disk”) before cleaning it. If you have multiple hard drives, like an SDFlash drive or a Multibay drive, you could end up wiping your second drive using this command.
1. diskpart
2. select disk 1
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit
3. Copy Windows Vista’s DVD ROM content to the Flash Drive

To copy the files over just mount the image with a piece of software like power iso and extract the contents to the usb drive that you have just formatted.

Leave it plugged in to the pc and reboot, press F8 when the system boots and choose your usb drive from the list of drives available..

Just before i start. Will all my files be deleted or put in a folder (Old.Windows)? if no ill buy some disks instead.

All the contents or the drive that you're going to install from will be deleted. And to use it again just run a quick format from within windows. The drive that you are going to install to will keep all your old files in windows.old folder. That's aslong as you don't choose format during the installation.

as long as you don't format the hard drive you will have as you say a file called windows old and as far as your external drive goes, you should be able to reformat it and use it as normal again.

Id decided to buy some dvd's instead, I couldnt really find out what to do with the harddrive.
