Solved Problem with Yahoo Messenger

I foolishly downloaded and installed the newest version of Yahoo Messenger. Now I cannot access it at all. I get this error message: "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail."

I do not know what a side-by-side configuration is. I don't know where to see the application event log. I tried hitting "run" and putting in sxstrace.exe but nothing happened. What do I do now? I would like to reinstall Version 9 of Yahoo's Messenger, but I can't find it anywhere. Every download turns into the Version 11, even when I've searched for Version 9 and think I've got a page that will let me download it.

Is this a Windows 7 problem?

Try going back with a system restore

Make sure you have the version 11 uninstalled first via Programs and Features.
( where did you go looking for Y! Messenger 9 ?)
